SEO for Dummies part four

February 21st, 2007 · No Comments · SEO

Part four in our SEO for dummies guide leads us to lesson number four: Don’t try tricking the search engines.

Even the best SEOs on the planet are nothing in comparison to the PHDs that Google hires to create algorithms for its results. If you are thinking of trying to trick Google then why not challenge Tiger Woods to a game of golf as well.

There are numerous ways in which you can trigger a penalty, loss of trust rank, or even a removal/ban from Google. The more hardcore techniques are things like cloaking and automated spam, but be wary of over using keywords (Keyword stuffing), avoid spamming your site on other sites, avoid hidden text, and avoid links from non relevant sites.

My number one rule in SEO is to keep everything looking natural, if you over do one area then it will trigger a red flag, and you don’t want to be raising a red flag when a bull the size of Google comes charging at you.
