The Best Digg.com Headline of the Day

We all know that articles on Digg.com require that extra bit of buzz to get on the homepage, today I am going to show you one of my current favourite headlines.

Just last week we were contacted by an entrepreneur who had done an interview of a 13 year old wonderkid who was making good money as a blogger online. He contacted us and asked for our buzz marketing skills to create a great title and description with the aim of getting his article on the Digg.com home page.

Needless to say we created a killer headline, and the article was on the Digg.com homepage in no time!

The problem with this phenomenon is that people will often push the boundries too far in order to get some recognition.

But from time to time I see some headline creating genius that is well worth mentioning.

Currently there is an article on the Digg homepage that uses this amazing headline:

Metrosexual Smackdown: The Battle Over the Best Shaving Cream

This is such a clever headline!

It is worth noting that this is an article that compares shaving creams, hardly the most exciting subject, but the headline makes it sound almost cool, edgy and exciting.

The description of the article is also worth mentioning:

Many barbers profess indifference to “the tool,” as they call a razor, but they’ll happily discuss lathers, emollients, and various other elixirs as if they were fine wines. While there are products that cost as much as a decent cabernet, there are also options for the price of a six pack (or, in a couple cases, a single tallboy)…

So congrats to the team behind this blatant viral stunt, it is a good headline, you deserve the tens of thousands of hits it will bring.
